Mystery
I hope I’m not wrong,
Not falsely accusing you
Of a treacherous lie
Or a misleading word.
But why would you refuse
To shed the cloak of secrets
From your cybernetic face
And enlighten us again?
Hiding behind a pane of glass
But even more hidden still,
Since a lie may go unseen
Over the information byway.
Sighing, I return
To my fruitless waiting,
Nodding off in this chair,
As I wait for one more word.
I’m torn between two fierce lions.
One frank, the other, cunning.
I can just hear their growls.
Their sinister growls.
The one roaring,
“I’m going to eat you!”
The other,
“I’m just having a bit of fun.”
When will I know
Which path to take?
Should I go to the right
Or to the left?
I will not live in long suspense,
For the deciding hour draws nearer.
It may be even now,
If that word ever comes.
So please, please, oh cloaked conquistador,
Enlighten me once more.
Of your identity, your motive,
Your one true name.
