The First Snow Day

The First Snow Day

A Poem by ARpoetry
"

Death of a loved one

"
That moment when you left
I didn't believe
How could I believe that you were gone
Life couldn't be like that
That day it snowed
The first snow day that year
You wished for snow
Your last wish.
I saw you there
Laying lifeless
I cried in your arms
Begging you,
Please, come back
I finally realized,
At age eight
What death meant
What death does
You'll never be back here
You've gone to a better place
You're set free,
Free from illness
Sickness
Sorrow
I'll never forget you
Those summer days
The lemonade stands
The fun we imagined
In our minds,
We went everywhere
Someday I'll be there
I'lI see you again
Until then,
Forever in my heart
I'll always love you
My sweet darling sister

Poignant read. The loss of a sibling at such a young age can be devastating. You will always associate the first fall of snow with her and remember her last wish. Your memories of summers with you will sustain you. She may be gone but she will always remain as your sister.
