A mother's love for a child, is for me, a natural, powerful and utterly beautiful instinct which has given the human race it's life force. I absolutely love the simplicity of your piece, and the gentle description you use, which is highly appropriate when describing such a beautiful and complex relationship. Your metaphor of little footprints in your heart is breathtaking, and sets the reader up nicely for the journey ahead.
The journey is light and airy, you have somehow created space "between the words' in each line, and I liked that space to reflect on the theme. This ambling along is halted though by the impact of the last line in the final stanza. The effect is immense, and you set up your key idea perfectly. No answer will be the same of course but the question posed, who among us, when faced with life's dramas, looks inside their heart for an answer? Simply beautiful writing and very soulful indeed.

Yep, that just sent a ripple of chills and goosebumps up and down my arm, partially because I understand the context of the current predicament but mostly its the undying devotion a mother has to her child, the fact that our kids are quite literally extensions of ourselves. That closeness, that bond can never be severed by time nor distance. Through life we go through the motions, get to the teenage years but fail to remember the purity, the innocence of a child who is two, innocent in the world, too young to talk back, too young to understand the hardships that we go through in life and the sacrifices that are made to make sure that the wee one is happy, and content within that innocence.
The most precious thing that God ever created
is love for a child, never debated
If your faith in that begins to wear
Look into your heart, I'll always be there.
This last stanza got to me though, because the love of a parent to a child is something unimaginably pure and stronger than any bond that I can possibly think of. People get divorced, spouses leave, boyfriends break your heart, people lie, people cheat, people will walk all over you and smile while doing it sometimes...but the love of a child to his/her mother or father is something that will remain unfaltering-it is unconditional love in its purest form and you have captured it perfectly.
So glad you started writing poetry my dear ;) Love you lil sister!
