little footprints

little footprints

A Poem by Aramey
"

A poem for my daughter- Ava Marie

"
Your little footprints in my heart,
I pray that we shall never part
like an angels wing wrapped around,
I shall guide you to safe ground

Nothing in the world could take away
the love I have for you each day
I will always be with you near or far
I will always be with you, where ever you are.

Your little fingers, your little toes
your itty-bitty, little nose
no words could describe
no poet, nor prose.

The most precious thing that God ever created
is love for a child, never debated
If your faith in that begins to wear
Look into your heart, I'll always be there.

A mother's love for a child, is for me, a natural, powerful and utterly beautiful instinct which has given the human race it's life force. I absolutely love the simplicity of your piece, and the gentle description you use, which is highly appropriate when describing such a beautiful and complex relationship. Your metaphor of little footprints in your heart is breathtaking, and sets the reader up nicely for the journey ahead.

The journey is light and airy, you have somehow created space "between the words' in each line, and I liked that space to reflect on the theme. This ambling along is halted though by the impact of the last line in the final stanza. The effect is immense, and you set up your key idea perfectly. No answer will be the same of course but the question posed, who among us, when faced with life's dramas, looks inside their heart for an answer? Simply beautiful writing and very soulful indeed.
