The End of Heartbreak

The End of Heartbreak

A Poem by Aramey
"

Quick short to exercise my brain.

"
Feathers caught in a summer breeze,
Silent like birds before winter's freeze,
In between the wind's ebb and flow,
something... the strangest echo.

I spun just as it brushed my face,
and watched as it teetered in delicate grace.
back and forth until it reached the ground
forgiving the gravel to which it became bound.

As I looked to the sky, it bellowed a hasty flash
leaving behind a trail of molten earth and ash,
and the Earth on which we stood
opened between the entangled wild-wood.

Forgotten layers beneath the soil and sand,
broke apart and swallowed acres of land.
The trembling earthen floor reached where I stood,
slow motion, breaking, just as I imagined it would.

I thought of the people, for who the future would not come,
I thought of those whom love wouldn't become.
But for those like me, who others saw fit to break,
The strangest thing, peace, lied at the end of heartbreak.
