In the Dark

In the Dark

A Poem by Aramey

I care, I care,
yes I do,
but when it takes two minutes,
there's not enough time for you.
I always tell you,
I want you around,
but I won't come see you,
too many miles to town.
Doesn't my silence reflect my love?
leaving you in the dark,
should feel sent from above,
even though it's as clear as bark.
I live in my head,
but can't you see?
listen to the things I said last week,
pay no mind to the silence in between.
Why would you want me to say good morning,
or ask how was your day?
People in love don't do that,
they assume it's all okay.
Besides, it's all too much,
I just don't have the time,
I'm too overwhelmed,
with whatever I'm feeling, these feelings of mine.

Sometimes we come to ask a little too much of those we love and care for. I have caught myself in this pattern many a times and am trying to distance myself more as to not fall into that pattern again. Still, when I care, it is hard if not next to impossible to turn it off. There are still many of those people in my past if they suddenly sprung up again that the well of emotions would surly flow again from the dry wells and make it hard for me to resist those old feelings I once almost drown in.

Deeply profound...I love how you captured the essence of a relationship, especially when there's no time to make time...sucks lol. :)

I like the beckoning allure. We often think others are able to see our feelings. Although, they are consumed in their own abandon. Do we truly feel what they are? Or do we only notice how we feel about who we think they are? The question is; Are we willing to go beyond ourselves, outside our boundaries,to experience their feelings?
