Mechanical heart

Mechanical heart

A Poem by Aramey

If you were to pull apart the pieces of my heart,
it would split between the cracks,
a faint light glowing from underneath,
but as you looked for the source,
of life,
instead of love, happiness, or drive,
those things are all fine,
but they aren't things of mine.
Dreams, hopes, wishes...
while wonderful in fairy tales,
life doesn't make lies truer with time.
What else could it be,
for those who wonder subtly,
if you peered behind the cobwebs,
wounded cobblestone walls,
if you looked past the scarred rock to keep most out,
clearly broken and rebuilt a thousand times,
you would find answers there,
listen closely,
can you hear the squeaky gears,
the metal tremble and shake,
mine is a mechanical heart, designed to beat steady,
but always meant to break.

A strong profound message of your insight that translates to readers like me that can relate..I also enjoyed the inward couplets of rhyming, intended or not, it flowed so well. Lovely.
