The Unexpected

The Unexpected

A Poem by Aramey

The rain pours down, a cleansing to my soul
each droplet crossing my brow is a truth untold,
but it's far too heavy for my body weight to hold
I come apart at the seams, my world unfolds.

Once all falls away, I drop to the rocky floor
and though I can't move, I search for the door.
As the rushing water begins to fill the room,
I know not how to swim, the skill never bloomed.

Liquid strangling my voice and my breath,
I begin to succumb to my own given death.
But a door I didn't see, opens, water rushes out,
I lay shocked in the wake, against my thorough doubts.

Shaking, I wonder, what has just begun?
Sunlight washes upon me, as I hear an ancient tongue,
it moves around me like warmth, silk, and soft rhythm rum.
I find myself~ oh... so... pleasantly stunned.
