The Dive

The Dive

A Poem by Aramey

Hidden beneath the veil separating life and fear,
eyes betray my iron guarded thoughts,
piercing through the fabrics I hold so dear,
I clutch my secrets close, but you see them clear.

I'm an ocean of mazes and mysteries
no one could see, or dared to look
the answers I do not know... shivering
as I recall the memories of steady misery.

As you held out your hand and I froze
something I was too afraid to hold
but a touch that slows the tremble,
was something that surely broke the mold.

You lead me to the river of life, hidden from me all this time
it's cool waters tempting my sun scorched soul, an impossible task.
I long to dive in, but pace the edge, could this fate be mine?
Over the years I've been taught, that no serenity lasts...
Yet you stand so still, in the tangled threads of my mind.

Cool waters, refreshing, and flowing over a soul that's burned,
mending the broken pieces, things I thought too lost to shine
fingertips that trace your skin, and lips that beg to connect.
Is this me? A question that hangs in the breeze. Alive...
I look into the river, a reflection of two, with a deep breath
a step as I unfurl my web covered wings... and dive.
