The Distance of SoliceA Poem by Aramey
I can hear the demons clawing up behind,
their ragged breath and wicked snarls. Ghost that follow close behind in their shadows, call, as darkness clings to the edge of sunlit echoes. Whipping winds from the tempest, apathetic delivering a thousand slaps across my delicate face... and I can only think to escape this place unforgiving, empty, and void of love. There is not solace here, it's far away like the stars hidden behind the storm, my fingertips struggle to touch them but they seem to move further from reach. I stand, swaying, in this maddening existence waiting for breathing to begin, hope is but a whisper here. As the strong winds prove my body's limitations, my spirit struggles on, but I'm knocked to the ground, I stand again... I close my eyes to feel the rain, its cool waters wash away the sand and debris. and I dream of the day, where I can reach my lovers arms
the only place... I have ever felt warm, loved, and safe. © 2013 ArameyReviews
