Smug Ignorance

I went into the kitchen tonight
I was very hungry
only wanted something to eat
"hurry your a** up!"
"we want to go to sleep!"
It's night, but not late
and when I walked away with food
they were still all... wide awake
what is wrong with society,
that we treat each other this way?
to add to the burn of what was done
one sat, and said none... no, not one word to say
in fact I thought a saw a little smile
spread across her smug, satisfied face.

I get the feeling you didn't deserve this and it was a sad situation. I have been there since I experienced similar lack of respect. Still, its not right and shouldn't happen. I agree with you when you say you vent through your writing. I do the same. :0)
