The Falcon's PreyA Poem by ArameyThis is a looooong one. longest I've ever written.
Breaking through the wind,
the falcon drives into the sun her wings, she can feel the air as dawn etches shadows on her face she knows not... of the hunter waiting there he aims for her heart barrel following her breast she closes her expert eyes and follows the current in the sky aiming for the morning sunrise she can only think to fly he hesitates to wonder at her beauty sweat beads plague his face a neglect of duty her feathers spread, to feel the freedom between them surrounding her whole body a breathtaking, faceted gem she rises he follows then compromises sweaty palms and the trigger slips a sudden rush of sound and she drops... down catching herself she flows to the ground he watches as she changes the feathers fall away a human body in her place sanity lead astray She stands and holds out her arms then sees her feathers lying around what have you done to me? hazel, color in her eyes abound her beauty strikes him a shot through the heart ebony hair, silken honey flesh an otherworldly art she drops to the ground tears crossing the distance ....connecting the light freckles on her cheek the sight of her tears cut into him shards of jagged glass marking him with crimson around his heart to match he awoke, covered in red let out a scream, something caught his eye the falcon, perched in a tree outside the window, just as she took flight.
