No Change

No Change

A Poem by Doug Johnson
"

I normally love New Year. This year... things were different. Certain circumstances in my life made it harder to appreciate it as much as I always have.

"
You're supposed to be better.
You're supposed to be new.
You're supposed to be refreshed.
But you're still you.

Life begins again.
The bad things go away.
But bad things don't end
Just because of a new day.

Troubles go on.
Pain is still there.
Sadness still exists.
But hey, who cares?

It's a new year, a new dawn.
A brand new horizon.
Welcoming a brand new sun.
But right now no new sun is rising.

A brand new number.
Oh what a great deal.
A brand new number
Won't change how I feel.

A time for celebrating?
I don't see why
All I see
Is another reason to cry.
