RescueA Poem by Doug JohnsonI had never really written a good poem before I wrote this; that assuming that this is actually good. Basically, I was having a hard time but a girl really turned it all around.
A dark, frightening landscape
Monsters of my mind grasp at me A black hole stretches its maw No light can escape You appear You enter the blurry edge of my vision I see what my life could be Instead of what it is You reach out your hand I take it willingly No questions asked You lead me towards a brighter place You hug me I hold you tight Afraid of what might Have happened without you You show me the world Through the eyes of someone else And I see how I can change To see it that way as well Your love saved me You brought me back to life Now I can live more happily Because of your light © 2013 Doug Johnson |
