In View of the Lighthouse

In View of the Lighthouse

A Poem by Anarda Nashai
"

(a poem inspired by the 44th U.S. President-Elect Barack Obama)

"

Upon drifting, your guide there twitching

and dancing in the pupils of us both full and vacant alike

defining the safety that now entitles our hope

thereafter, the ride does float our ships to one promise

together, hand in hand, we arrive to dry land

--our hearts avowed to you, dear lighthouse

as so much more than a symbol of our gratified survival

you will forever stand.

A very interesting analogy of the lighthouse being a political hope.

Mm, I'm afraid I rather dislike politics, and yet this was a good poem. The visual details you offered were very good, I'm fond of the lighthouse metaphor. Pushing politics aside, and thinking of the sheer quality of the poem itself:
The details, the image you offered were very good.
The flow was fantastic, if not a bit different from other poetry. Awkard-- and awkward makes you remember. I very much like it.
Placing hope in something symbolic, a deep statement of something that lets you view on a person's real thoughts, those not expressed?
All in all, thumbs up, I like it.

Nice and true of any lighthouse and as a friend has informed me their have been many :)
*concerned* the speech was behind glass
*relieved* it was behind glass for the same reasons

Good luck all :)
On form I liked the poem, a nice honorific

I'm from the UK, so I don't quite understand patriotism or faith in the guy at the top (hey, what can I say, it's the way we are over here!)

But I liked the sentiments and I'm sure many others will agree with you. The lighthouse metaphor is a nice one, it's both interesting and unusual.

Short but no words wasted. Nice piece!
