Gossipers

Gossipers

A Poem by Anushka Saha

Mind me not if I take away your pride.

Break your mountains of conceit.

And follow the path of right.

For you demand prejudice from outcasts.

Dwell in the house of burning fire.

And build up ominous thoughts in your head.

Which lead to my perils and perishes my desires.

You murmur to strangers in a veil.

Frightened to reveal your identity.

But I fear you not,

Cause you cannot cart off my dignity.

I see your shadow linger behind my back,

Act as if you don’t exist,

Yet I Smile in my mind and speak out a fact-

“A real heart can defeat the sound of false counterfeits.”

You caste your whispering and mockery at me in a roundabout way.

Make my friends believe what never happened even in far past days.

Tell them words which I cannot even relate.

For you envy the little fragments in my world of progress.

I thank you with my heart full of genuine forgiveness.

Because if today I progress,

It’s due to the urge to demonstrate.

For you try to pull me down,

But never did you realize,

The fire in me is a spark you commenced.

One day when I stand in front of you,

Contended and gay,

I will just smile and say.

Mind me not if I take away your pride,

Show you how you pulled me back,

While helped me to win my chance.

"prejudice from outcasts." I understand what you are trying to say but I think it could be better worded to of instead of from.
"Cause you cannot cart off my dignity." "The fire in me is a spark you commenced." I love these lines!
The repetition works wonderfully at the end. I love it, a great way to express all of that gossip you hear at high school and sadly enough in the real world. It doesn't break us only pushes us higher! Great Job!

Great oratory.
Must be a lesson for the persons who are jealous or envious.
Translated your personal experience to a universal nature among the humans.
Congratulations,Anushka!!!
