  • Distribution of free food through fair price shops in Uttar Pradesh will start from April 1. 
  • The govt had announced 20kg flour and 15kg rice to beneficiaries of the Antyodaya scheme, MNREGA workers, registered labourers, and daily wage earners under the urban development department. 
  • In the second phase that will commence from April 15, all ration cardholders will get 5kg free rice. 
  • Distribution of food will take place using ePOS machines. To ensure sanitation in the wake of the COVID-19 virus, shop owners will ensure that social distancing is maintained. 
  • Sanitizers, soap, and water will be available at all fair price shops so that people can wash their hands before and after using the ePOS machines.
