Feathered Friend

Feathered Friend

A Poem by ANCIENTRUNAWAY

Warm-blooded creature

You lay your eggs upon my tree

chipping away in spiritual glee

stretching your feathers free

No worries or fee

I envy thee

Flying above the effortless clouds

distinguished by feathers and angels

compared to the light of God by ancient poets

yet all I see is a s**t gift on my car

You made me smile my friend

I actually accidentally bypassed the last line until I read the comment below mine. I was going to focus on the amazing rhyme of this piece, but the irony posed by the last line stands out more :) haha it actually made me smile, it was so unexpected but worked perfectly!

Haha!!! Terrific!!! I have had this odd fixation on the same thing you ended on. I have two cars that I park in the same driveway. Sometimes one is in front, sometimes behind, in no particular order. However, the little winged friends preferentially "decorate" my red car EVERY TIME!!! My black car never has to be carefully sprayed off with the hose. It is always just the one! What is it with those odd little bird brains?! Why is it very clear that they are choosing one place to dive bomb over the other? Next time a seagull does a bomb run on me, I am GOING to take it personally. I know they know what they are doing now!!! Great poem! Perfect set up and lovely release!

Still keeping up that odd sense of irony here. Despite how much people like to talk about the beauty of birds, there is certainly something to be said about leaving your car at a 'hangout' for pigeons!

This reminded me of another poem I read on here,
