I Still Believe in You

A poem to do with trust and human nature.

 

Nobody is perfect.
So why do we always pretend that they are?
And criticize them
For the littlest thing they get wrong.
It is never easy
To always do the right thing,
Or be completely
Honest with the ones who don’t see.
No matter how much
We may try to persuade,
If they don’t trust us,
Then we’ll never get them to have faith.
But I believe in you.

 

You may unintentionally fail
When you are sure that you’ll succeed.
But follow through the trail,
Give in and just believe.
Be strongest when you’re struggling.
Trust faith to guide you through.
You’ll get the strength need from Him,
And I will always stand by you.
Let’s not fall behind in our feelings.
Let’s not give up on each other.
Love can only be healing.
I’ll put you on top when you’re down and under.
Because I believe in you.

 

I keep trying to get you to listen.
You don’t trust me anymore.
Yes, I’ve done things I regret,
But that’s what forgiving is for.
All these years since we were young,
I never questioned your authority.
So now, how come
You won’t do the same for me?
I surrendered my heart,
And you never gave it back to me.
I know that you don’t believe in everything I do,
But I promise,
I will always believe in you.

 

I believe in you.
So does anything else really matter?
I don’t care if you don’t always tell the truth,
Just as long as we’re together.
Life is too short not to trust,
And  to worry about mistakes.
I do not care when I love you this much.
So why should we worry that way?
Even though you may not believe in everything I do,
Believe me now.
I still believe in you.
