This is the foundation of the modern adrevenue model now.

Discord, dissonance... when people agree and are happy, complimenting things... engagement is objectively lower, always across the board. People who choose to be terminally online these days don't fully understand what they are doing to themselves, it is like the "matrix"... a matrix of whatever happens to gain your attention that is designed to keep your attention perpetually. They will rewire their brains, their dopamine receptors, even on a basic reasoning level... they will become what is put in front of them for reasons... NOT in their best interests. Ad agencies will effectively become their parents. This entire place is probably screwed in about 3 or 4 generations. I'm just upset that I'll be dead before I can really take pleasure in the misery... we are going to miss out on the best kind of schadenfreude.

Sadly agree and do the little I can to emerge from it myself. Gardening more. Planting trees and fruit. Hopeful to leave something of some small substance to pay the rent for my time here on earth. Had to learn to discern and am still learning while somehow always having remained true to myself. Perhaps that's the real issue though - individualism. Maybe that's the true mortal sin.

It is really nice to meet you. I look forward to getting to know you and to becoming familiar with your work.

We are consciousness residing in an individual, unique system of neurons, axons, and ions, housed in a flesh prison... and who knows, maybe every nuance of every experience is just a figment of our imagination, a thing that has no physical reality, just a name, like consciousness, or mind; and a step further, all planned and executed by the universe itself... a consciousness beyond our individual, unique nervous system's ability to conceive, much less understand.
None of which will do anything to assuage my current longing and desire for a fat, greasy chili-dog with piles of cheese and onions on top... I mean, now, THAT's something we can really get our teeth into! Oh, and some good potato chips and a cold beer on the side for verisimilitude.
Later, in an overstuffed easy chair, after the game, speculate on the nature of God and what he's been up to all this time!

More of a water girl myself. A dolphin, if you will. The weather is just fine for some play time. Prefer to simply enjoy it but don't mind swimming with sharks when needed. Made for it. Nice to meet you, Vol. I hope you enjoy your weekend.

Ah same. I nearly said siren or mermaid instead of dolphin, but it didn't ring quite true.

A true story is that I once had a pair of dolphins swim beside my jetski after helping a mom and daughter whose own jetski had stalled out in the deep water.

This happened just after standing up and pulling back the throttle on my jetski. My guy was sitting behind me, having not been to the ocean since a small child and awed like one but too manly to wrap his arms around my waste. Instead he'd gripped the tow bars behind him. Nothing but the Lordt kept that man on that jetski lol. I was so in the moment and the thrill of letting my hair down full speed that I didn't realize his bottom was about two feet airborn off of the seat behind me.

When I realized it, I slowed down, saw the mom and daughter stranded, helped them, and then the dolphins swam up beside us.

My guy thought they were sharks and said, "oh sh*t." He still tells people I once tried to feed him to the sharks lol.

The moral of the story being that I do enjoy thrill, life, dolphins, and dolfhining. I am also well acquainted with sharks and understand their simplicity.

I enjoyed your poem, by the way. I've always loved Dickens and wanted a cat named Wilkie. The poem flowed a bit like both. Have you read The Woman in White?

Oh the joys of salt water! So many interesting things to find... a large copper coin in Pensacola Bay too pitted to identify a cache of very old bottles, cannon mounts from the civil war, big blue crabs... or a spent .50 calibre round on Longboat Key crusted by an oyster shell. Turtle nests and surfing on The pristine Playalinda beach in Brevard County... Megalodon Teeth on Venice Beach... But, best of all wading out waist deep with a surf-casting rig and waiting for who knows what to take the bait!...sigh

Ah but when you know the one track mind of predators surfing along via inflated egos, it’s some of the most amusing parts of life and sea. If Darwin was right, it’s a wonder some creatures never evolved past a predatory state. I have pity for them, really, but always have Gojira within when needed.
