Shoes Tell the Truth

Shoes Tell the Truth

A Poem by AMMD

I was born into
cement shoes
then laughed at
when I couldn’t
learn to walk
in them

I was thrown into
the river
then convicted if
I swam or didn’t -
guilt by associative
birth

How many women
you’ve burned
for the truth
I’ll never know
but I do know
that Jesus died
for your sins
and that I won’t

WOW! Your writing feels intense to me, altho it's a bit abstract for me to fully grasp. Your analogy of cement shoes reminds me of myself being born into a family of abuse. Life does feel like a no-win situation lots of the time for many people (((HUGS)))

Did Jesus really die for our sins? Or were they murdered?

Powerful poem. This is a poem of an intense struggle to survive. Women in some parts of the world have just that. Jesus turned the other cheek. I say fight for your rights despite it all. .
