What’s My Worth?

What’s My Worth?

A Poem by AMMD

What’s My Worth?

Is it the car I drive?

Where I live?

What I earn?

When I eat?

Or who I hang out with?

Is it the size of my dress?

The shape of my body?

The texture of my hair?

The smoothness of my skin?

Or the color of my teeth?

Is it my age?

How high my credit score is?

How many children I have?

How many relationships I’ve been in?

Or how many men I’ve slept with?

Is it my choices?

My clean home?

My faith?

My growth?

Or my lack thereof?

What’s my worth?

Could it be

The passion in my blood

The fire in my veins

The conviction in my mind

Or the light in my soul?

Could it be

My tenacity for life

My devotion to those I love

My loyalty to friends and family

Or my will to always start again?

Could it be

What catches my eye in the morning

When I wake and sleep each day

Why I listen to music

Or who I love to hear play?

Could it be

These secret battles I fight

Those demons I conquer

This authentic honesty

Or that soulfulness I embody?

What’s my worth

To you

And what’s any of it even matter

When you don't even know me

at all?
