Summer Aftermath

Summer Aftermath

A Poem by Augusto Miguel Gamboa
"

What happens when the warmth of the summer sun is gone? And you're left alone in the cold with nothing but the memories of what used to be.

"
I saw it coming but hoped for a different fate
Everything I prayed for now slipping away
What felt like a gift giving birth to a curse
The blissful love song now just another sad verse

You said it would pass, but how long do I wait?
When does it all stop when the end is too late?
My heart still skips when your name rings in my ear
But laughter and smiles were replaced by anxiety and fear

I'm cold now, it's never been this cold before
The fire has passed as I lay frozen on the floor
Every plan and promise loops at the back of my head
As your voice echoes, repeating the words you said

The sunshine is gone and dark clouds envelope the sky
Summer has finally ended, leaving raindrops beside my eye
A tale that was written with joy in every letter
Finally ends with this verse. Now all I hope for is another chapter.
