Classroom Thoughts

A Poem by Augusto Miguel Gamboa
"

Live to work to live to work to live to work to live to eventually die

"
It's 2pm and the clock is ticking slowly
Time has never been so slow
Staring into the distance
While the old man explains

Hearing but not listening
Trying but not understanding
The abstract ink in the background
It doesn't make any sense!
All just scribbles and images

The man continues
as the thought rushes through my head

Is this what life's all about?
The same thing over and over again?
Everyday of our lives we wake up, live and sleep

An endless cycle of life and death
We work to survive, suffer to stay alive
Catching every breath to continue living
Until the day we finally stop breathing

Life's a maze, we take different directions
but all end up in the same place
The finish line is decease

Dying early, unaccomplished
or dying old, suffocating
People are taken everyday but nobody seems to notice

Questions never answered, and answers never asked
Amazing what you can think of
when you're sitting bored in class...
