Dear Terra

Dear Terra

A Poem by Augusto Miguel Gamboa

Terra, dear Terra
What happened to you? The offspring of a perfect Father
born but not raised in paradise
growing under the influence of evil
under the unclean people

Terra, oh Terra
How could this happen? You used to be a woman
so clean and pure, a virgin to corruption
innocent against hypocrytes
immune to the lies of politics

Terra, Terra, is it too late?
Are you doomed to the life of pain and hate?
Your destiny concealed by fate?
is your existence even worth debate?

Terra, Terra, confused and alone
your Father's disappointed
your friends are disgusted
the souls you stand with, broken and departed

Terra, ugly Terra
How you used to be so beautiful
until you were abused by the people around you
oh how you have been changed, from roses to tears

How could you do this Terra? You let yourself go
and turned into a b***h in just 2000 years
