Dusty Diamond

Dusty Diamond

A Poem by Ambra Celeste

Dusty Diamond

Pretty gemstones scattered on the ground
Amongst these lies a dusty diamond
Densely covered in particles of dirt
The half-witted call it ugly
Kicking it away from the other colourful gems
Mournfully it sits in solitude
Envying those glossy gemstones
It gazes at the shooting stars
It blows dandelions seeds
It wishes to be an eyeful gem
It whispers to be one of them
Instead it’s heaved, cast and thrust once more and again
The dirt begins to crumble
The wind blows the dust away
Tumbling down the hill to the shallow river beneath
Its lustrous reflection sparkles under the fiery sun
Didn’t you know you were precious?
Says the crow on the maple tree
Your doubts and insecurities obscured your beauty
Adámas the ancient Greeks named you
Because you are beautiful and unbreakable
Thereon the diamond shone beyond any other gemstone.

a superb write...and it captured the feeling so nicely...how people who are actually so important feel like they are dirt...often they realize their own value only when someone else tells them about it...it is one of my favorite poem...and Ambra you keep getting better and better...hope you never stop writing and uploading...:)

people can be like this..kicked and dirtied, yet they are still gems, even if they don't know they are.
