Anorexia Dream

Anorexia Dream

A Poem by Ambra Celeste

Anorexia Dream

I hate my thighs
I loathe my muffin tops
They are so disgusting
My belly is not flat
My upper arms are a bit flabby
I don’t like looking like that
I wish for Victoria Beckham’s 23-inch waist
My natural curves are driving me crazy
My obsession I feed
As I diet, I turn into a nasty b***h
My rib cage bones pop out of my dress
I am nearly there
How many calories do celebrities eat?
Oh yeah 600 per day maximum
To this allowance I must stick
If I fail
I’ll starve
I’ll be sick
In size zero I want to dress my bones
I take inspirations from sick-minded role models
I weigh myself twenty-five times a day
I am living anorexia dream
With pride I hold up my trophy
My saggy breasts and lollipop head are the only downfalls
Oh well, you cannot have it all.

this is fantastic...reminds me of another poem "barbie doll"

when someone tries to look like everyone thinks he or she should...that can rip the person apart...

trying everything to please...but there are always downfalls...and in the end, we really just have to be okay with ourselves as we are...because that is exactly who we are...not what media shows as the ideal...we are flawed, and beautiful in our flaws.

your imagery in this just blew me away, Ambra...

There is such an important message here! There are so many teenage girls that need to read your words. What we see in the magazines or on the big screen is not real life. You don't have to be stick skinny to be beautiful and yet these "role models" teach us that we cannot have curves - that a size 6 is fat. A good friend of mine is a "plus size model" and she wears a size 8!!!! This is wrong...

Your poem is an important one. Thank you for sharing.

I hope you are just writing this to show how the media effects the esteem of many women… Be proud of your curves, I always say bones are for dogs and skeletones are not sexy. I myself love a real woman with dangerous curves/.
