Cupid's Poisoned Arrows

Cupid's Poisoned Arrows

A Poem by Ambra Celeste

Cupid's Poisoned Arrows

Sharply penetrating an innocent heart
A silent work has began
Delicate, insidious and consuming
This dark love takes over slowly
Numbed by an infusion of shrewd perfidy and ingenious craft
Impairing the sense of the first sorrowful cracks
Drunk and dazed by its burning love desire
Living in the illusion of a magic fairy tale
Drenched in a poisonous evil spell
Torn apart by the unveiled truth
Hence, the heart still beating for the ugly it loves
It cannot let go
This fatal love is all that it wants
A heart once alive with sunniness and zest
Now intoxicated with heavy torment
A heart once youthful and strong
Now crumbling with myriad of cracks
The sacrifice of vital essence drops
All for an unworthy love
Cursed by Cupid’s poisoned arrow.
