You Define You

You Define You

A Poem by Ambra Celeste

You Define You

Inundated by waterfalls of opinions
Furthermore, buried under an avalanche of impositions
Our choice of life segmented by those dressed in haughtiness
Our future dictated by the ones who write with a sour ink of judgment
You are as good as your beauty is, the poison of society
You cannot handle important responsibilities, the detrimental employer
Some of us lived their lives according to their partner’s dreams
Others complied with the wish of their families
Ceramic statues moulded into fake beings
Our spirits screaming to be free
Free to follow our dreams
Free to adorn our bodies with jewels made of colourful leaves
Free to choose who we long to be
Longing to create our own destinies
Charisma shall shine through our outré creativity and art
Its deep meaning captured by the wise who can read between the lines
Who knows you better than you do?
Who has the right to put a stamp on you?
Will you abide or defy?

This is beautiful! I truly love this line: "Free to adorn our bodies with jewels made of colourful leaves"

The imagery is wonderful!
