Early Morning

Early Morning

A Poem by A Lawless Lad
"

It's some prose I wrote early in the morning about the new year and change.

"
It's early morning here in my hometown.
The moon and sun barely changing spots.
The cat waits patiently by the door
more eager to start the day than anybody

And I'm just ending it.
I'm not done with yesterday just yet
so I haven't slept.
Time's not on my side.

In a day the year will end
the one that has taken so much.
Is the sun rising on a glorious new day?
Because I could use one of those
But I hold onto everything old
like memories of loved ones.
And I can't help but sleeping in sometimes
When the thoughts leave me tired.

I liked the touch about the cat, it gave it a very personal flavour. The old and the new are always a constant war for me and if only I could delay the oncoming change by sleeping in.

That's pretty much me, I did get out of bed at 1.30pm.
