Kara

A Poem by A Lawless Lad
"

A poem I wrote about an old girlfriend of mine.

"
You were my candle in early years
delicate, and warmly burning
I was careful to keep you from the breeze
so that the wind would not dim your beauty

As my hands covered your flame
my palms singed against your fire
but I kept you for the warmth
in darkness you gave me hope

Your light gave me vision
to write love songs in the dark
but the wax melted over time
dripping to the copper core

I did all that I could to keep you alive
even burning the pages
to pretend the candlelight
could withstand the ages.

You weave through the lines and give us as a reader a reflective piece...which in this case is the candle... and how that tells the story of the relationship...and how you've grown from the experience...the lines speak for themselves in this verse...
