A Poem by Das Muffin
"

Another bird poem, another for school. Not a bad work. Still needs work. I haven't looked at it since last year.

"

Over there in the summer rain

A little bird with a broken wing

Was lying there, pitiful, worn

When I saw her, my heart was torn

With gentle hand, I picked her up

Then with both my hands I cupped

Her fragile body with soft embrace

Tears were running down my face

I took her home to give her aid

On a table then I'd laid

Her body and her broken wing

Hoping to fix everything

I fixed her wing and kept her safe

From a world she could not face

Until the time that she could leave

Because, I knew, she must be free

I gave her shelter all those days

Then I sent her on her way

Now time has gone by all too fast

And my companion is in the past

Now and then I see her there

Outside flying in the air

Her family now lives in my tree

And in my memory she'll always be
