Beautiful image, peaceful. One poet from my country said something like this in one of his poems:
"But don’t you know that only on lakes with muddy depths, the water lilies grow?”
Hopes are stemming from darkness.

Well, you got it right even if you don't know the rules. This is simple yet beautiful. The words of choice really painted a picture in my head. Nice write. Well done. :)
