Si Tu Oses

Si Tu Oses

A Poem by Ennay
"

Can you trust me?

"

Right now the time is 12:50 am and I’ve been struggling to sleep.

Couldn’t help but roll back through my messages,

Wishing that there were more hours in the day,

That way we could speak for as long as we wished..

Though that’s not how life works, does it?

I have an idea.

A game of my own making, if you will.

To give you something to look forward to. After all, we both know what it’s like to have long days. So many dull hours of the day.. You tend to lose focus on the moments that you don’t normally see.

Something that I like to do is ‘people watch.’

I’d sit in my family’s cafe, the one I told you about. I’d watch people enter and leave as I sat by a window. I’d listen to their conversations and sometimes I’d even join those conversations. Small compliments, questions, and a little curiosity.

Though of course this means you’d have to actually socialize. I know- It’s not my favorite thing to do either.

But here’s my challenge for you.

Observe, ask, and learn something from somebody you’ve never met before.

Yes, it has to be a stranger.

Ask for their names if you can, learn something from their lives. Did they bring a bag in with them? Does that mean that they study? Did they come with family? Watch their family dynamics.

You of all people should know that a picture can tell a story. Let you be your camera.

Look for something worthy to make a 'portrait' of.

Trust me when I say, it’s worth it.

And by the end of the day, you should have one new story to be able to tell me after your work and my rehearsal.

So.. Do you dare?

By the way, call me by my name. You remember it, don't you?

Talk to you soon.
