Tightrope

Tightrope

A Poem by Ennay
"

I could sit for hours.. Listening to your music.

"
Lets say that something important is walking on a tightrope.
It is stood balancing in the middle.
Everyone watching is uncertain of what it will do.

Will it turn around and never go back?
Or will it keep going forward?

Underneath it is a safety net.
It is too afraid to look down.
It refuses to accept that this could be a safe situation.

Should it walk forward?
It's technically safe even if it doesn't realize this.
Or it could turn around, there is nothing wrong with that..

But what if on the other side of the tightrope is something it wants.
Or perhaps something it needs..
Would it dare to trust the safety net?

There are countless outcomes even though a tightrope only goes two directions.

I've also considered something else.

Maybe there is something else  on this tightrope.
And it is also afraid,
And maybe all it needs is to fall into the safety net.

Unlike the other.
It knows about the presence of the safety net.
But the distance is so great.

Could it really be that simple?
Besides..
Would it still be able to see the other side of the tightrope?

I had a friend tell me something recently.
That maybe to show that the tightrope is safe.
You must fall first into the safety net.

But what if they don't look?
Or what if they don't care?
Or what if nothing changes?

They could stand there forever.
But they have a third option.
They could also choose to fall into the safety net.

I don't know what would happen if they did.
We wouldn't be able to see the future.
Nor would we be able to go back to the past.

But it's not so bad in the safety net.
Because if you think about it.
If they both fall.

They'll never have to be alone.
