If I Could Stop One Heart From Breaking

This song was originally a poem.

It said, “If I could one life of aching then I shall not live in vain.”

Written by Emily Dickinson.

This was the song I had stuck inside my head.

I told you about it.

This song itself is somewhat written like a poem.

Maybe that’s why I like it so much.

But maybe that’s why it’s also so hard for others to understand.

It talks about a dream.

How birds are able to take flight.

Without being chained down by something.

We are unlike birds.

We have these thoughts that chain us.

That keep us from doing the things we want to do.

Things that could change our entire lives.

Something just barely within reach.

Perhaps if we weren't chained we could do these things.

But then again, what are the things that chain us?

We all have something that holds us back.

I know mine.

Do you know yours?
