Yessss, AJ! Just as Queen Bey sang, if a man was truly into his lady, he would put a ring on it. Those that hesitate are just playing games and passing the time. I have seen the film that inspired your poem, (haven't read the book) and it reminded me of a certain friend of mine who was with a guy for 8 years and he never once spoke of the future. When she finally put the question to him, he went awfully cold, blaming this same darkness and disturbed soul you write of here, and he broke it off 3 weeks later. She wasted 8 years for a player. So your poem, especially giving us ladies a male perspective, is one to be applauded. If he is a time waster, move him on. Fine wisdom, my friend. Your 9 stanzas flow effortlessly here. Good to read you again.

The itch to write this poem was growing and growing as I observed so many louts here talking all these poor ladies for a ride with all their games of darkness and delirium. I thought I'll do my bit for the ladies lol. We don't 'hint', we don't manipulate and we certainly don't back down when its someone we really want to hold on to. Thanks a ton for relating to it.
Why is it that when given mixed messages, we always tend to interpret the message the way we prefer the outcome to be instead of against a positive outcome? Perhaps we think that given enough love and attention we can tip the balance? Then, if we are "fortunate enough" to win their heart, we set about changing their nasty habits and behaviours over time, and act surprised when they are not easily molded and shaped to our satisfaction. Perhaps women are just born with an innate need to have a lifelong make work project and are poor losers? At any rate, I enjoyed and appreciated your poem, for it made me think and smile.
Wow. This is such true, shining wisdom. When did you write this? I think I trust no one when they say they care about me and I absolutely believe them when they make excuses. I believe the truth that they just don't care. This is so on point, so right and so good. Carry your torches only for yourself ladies. Chances are that you'll be loved better that way. Kudos AJ.
I absolutely loved this!!!!!!!! I clung to every word as I read. I was thinking it sounded like that book "He's Just Not That Into You" while I read it, and then there it was, right in the author's note! Brilliant write, AJ!!!

You're welcome 😊😊 I very much enjoyed the read!!! 😊😊
I really like this. I like the rhythm and the rhyming and I like that the man is opening up and just telling it like it is. Directness is all I ever need .. so I know where I stand and can make my choices with your position in mind. Thank you for shedding a little light on the male psyche!
Love the opening line .. A man is never a riddle. .... Women aren't either really, just maybe socialisation makes some of us hide our true selves, which can make us seem contradictory because we are trying to present to men what we think they want to see, not who we are!
Life has taught me that simple honesty and being true to myself are the way to real relationship.
As for the title of your poem, no need to apologise as you telling your truth sets me free!
Here's to men and women who can be who they are and just say it!

I agree with you about the age old conditioning that makes women more restrained than men. They're conditioned to be politically more correct and things gave not changed too much in the past century. The thing with men is that they can't put up a facade too long and then Heartbreaks happen. Its best to have realistic expectations and be honest upfront. I appreciate your in-depth review very! Thanks a ton Ms. Helen.
I agree :) one thing that many don't know, men usually know what they want and when they find their special one and fall in love they will know it before a woman does, because as women sometimes our emotional trick us since we are driven and controled by emotions, thus we might not recognize we are in love, or we will break down knowing we are feeling something deep and most likely it would be love, in these moments when we are aware of that, we will sit alone and we will be haunted by many many feelings and weep, until we balance ourselves we stand up being in love :) I know too, a man doesn't like playing around, if a woman doesn't like him, he would want to know it clearly instead of giving hope, and sometimes the woman isn't clear enough because she cares for his feelings, what we need to know this doesn't help him, does it?
every single word is true, thank You for an amazing treat dear AJ.

Sometimes, we play but our hearts may not be in it. And sometimes we stay away yet love fervently. One has to be quite careful, especially with heartbroken ppl, to avoid heartache. Yet some heart is always inevitable. Many heartfelt thank yous for your views and this great review!
This is such a clever and humorous write! I love it so much! I haven't read the book, but you sure did make an amazing poem out of it! Much love to you! ❤️
