A very apt title, Monsieur P. It links extremely well with your attributed quotation by Khalil Gibran. Sometimes there is a fine line between saying the right words or leaving them unsaid. It's a dangerous predicament; the right words can make everything smooth and the wrong words can increase the distance between two people, so which do we choose? Throw caution to the wind and speak our mind or hold our tongue? For as your reference outlines, if we say nothing at all, and never clear the air, much of what existed is lost. I guess it all depends on the situation, summing it all up and choosing the right words at the right time, or for many men like yourself, shutting up completely at the right time! You have painted some lovely imagery to accompany your words and the inspiring quotation and it all comes together very well to illuminate some serious thoughts in one's mind. So kudos for this one, and for taking a snippet of wisdom and spinning it so poetically well. An excellent write from your thinking pen, monsieur P! Much enjoyed, as always.

The imagery in this poem is quite run-of-the-mill but I couldn't think up anything else to support this quote. Thanks anyway. I think the unspoken reason behind such voids is an element of ego in such situations. Budding relationships often succumb to it. Whatever the cost, love is sadly lost.
Appreciate your thoughts and words very much. Pen on and keep your poetic flag flying high :)
Like bubbles? Blown and freed and faded. I feel so not sometimes but many times. When the needs are present but the words are flown and the needs are gone but the words stay down, both state is listed to misery.
Beatific rhyming Jee. My pea sized mind loves rhyme but can't rhyme, well!
Only a master scribbles and spanks for good, indicating you. Be blessed🌿

Perfect match of words and deeds is often difficult. I hope you have been well and staying safe and sound . Still waiting for more poetry from you. Thanks a lot for this great review and for appreciating the rhyming. Still a learner as I was telling Ms. Lydi. Take care my lovely friend 😊👍
Oh yes, words must be said....communication is the key to any relationship. Words that are kept under cover are misunderstood. Your poem is professionally written....flow is exceptional. The imagery is wonderful. I enjoyed it....and the quote from Gibran is a perfect accompaniment. Lydi**

When grappling with the safety of the heart, it is sometimes very difficult to let the words of love exit the mouth. How ever many words there might be, and however true and stirring, they stay caged like a hopeless bird in the cavern of the throat.
I like the way you explore this idea with the contrasting images. The movement back and forth between freedom of expression as an idea and the reality of self-censoring as a tactic of self-preservation. The rain needed, heavy in the spirit, that nevertheless doesn’t fall. And what results is a parched landscape. But it’s maintained in a spirit of resignation.
I think there are many who do let the beauty of possibility go because of the fear of being hurt if the feelings aren’t reciprocated. Or perhaps there are more complex circumstances that make declaration impractical. Whatever the case, your poem offers the rawness of heart juxtaposed to the stoicism of mind, and shows what a powerful dynamic this can be.
Love your use of the Gibran quote. His wisdom and connection to spirit never become irrelevant and you’ve used the idea to great effect here. Enjoyed your poem very much.

We do self-censor in a bid to not expose your want and vulnerability to the other. I feel it may be more applicable to men in particular who often try to be cool headed and practical in certain situations. Thank you for such an in-depth review and the very relatable comments on this piece. I appreciate very much.
