A very apt title, Monsieur P. It links extremely well with your attributed quotation by Khalil Gibran. Sometimes there is a fine line between saying the right words or leaving them unsaid. It's a dangerous predicament; the right words can make everything smooth and the wrong words can increase the distance between two people, so which do we choose? Throw caution to the wind and speak our mind or hold our tongue? For as your reference outlines, if we say nothing at all, and never clear the air, much of what existed is lost. I guess it all depends on the situation, summing it all up and choosing the right words at the right time, or for many men like yourself, shutting up completely at the right time! You have painted some lovely imagery to accompany your words and the inspiring quotation and it all comes together very well to illuminate some serious thoughts in one's mind. So kudos for this one, and for taking a snippet of wisdom and spinning it so poetically well. An excellent write from your thinking pen, monsieur P! Much enjoyed, as always.

The imagery in this poem is quite run-of-the-mill but I couldn't think up anything else to support this quote. Thanks anyway. I think the unspoken reason behind such voids is an element of ego in such situations. Budding relationships often succumb to it. Whatever the cost, love is sadly lost.
Appreciate your thoughts and words very much. Pen on and keep your poetic flag flying high :)
Your chosen quote opens so many doors, Gentility is often what matters. So too is honesty or a lack of hypocrisy or- merely being human and perhaps lack insight into the other.. For me you've made an offering: please feel before responding then, when you have whatever long the pause merely whisper..

Words, not spoken. Open doors, we need to be closed.
"Those words unsaid
Waned and vanished at a cost
For that which was meant
Yet left forever unsaid
A world of love was lost"
The above lines. I do understand my friend. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

You are welcome my friend. One of the life lessons we will learn often.
Words or even lack of them can make or break a relationship. I am reminded here how precious they are, and how carefully they should be used. There will be times when what's flashing in our heads remains better unsaid. Thank you for sharing the Kahlil Gibran quote. Wise words. Your poetry is always a pleasure to read. This one one on a serious topic had some interesting imagery and your poetic expression is always first rate. All good wishes.

Often communication between two people breaks down for one reason or another.
And we are left wondering what happened? Should we have said it and didn't? Should we have not said it and did?
Questions questions questions.
reading this poem reminds me of reading the prolific poet Lyn Lyfshin...
I love her work...and am always amazed how her words never seem superfluous...pretentious...but with fairly common language, she uses it to her best advantage...and the poems are startling...like this.

Quite a fascinating write again, sir. Khalil Gibran is such a well renowned Eastern poet and philosopher that it would be difficult to do his quotations justice but you have performed admirably here in your own words. As one who is often on the receiving end of a mouthful of abuse, my immediate stance is to say that some things ARE best left unsaid. For quite often hurtful words are never indicative of respect and love in the first place. Love in its infancy, of course, that is when all words should be mean't and said for a love to flourish. I guess the value of words unsaid, said or mean't just wanes over the course of time. This is another real thinker's write from your pen, sir, and one well illustrated with vibrant imagery and a cascading flow. Always a pleasure to peruse your words.

This poem is so cool. I like the way the thought comes to a logical conclusion about something not done having consequences. An admission is the first step towards finding a remedy.

Likewise sir. It will be great to bond over poetry :) Cheers!
to say or not to say that is the question do we bear our souls and risk rejection or keep silent and risk losing every thing, the quote adds to the whole poem and gives it gravitas a deep thinkers fine piece of writing
