This was quite a delight to read. Such a fast paced poem with flawless rhymes and plenty of humour. I could never collaborate with anyone on any art form, personally. It's something we should keep sacred for ourselves and only share the finished outcome with others. Creativity is highly personal in my opinion. I enjoyed this poem, AJNJ. A skillfully written poem.

Thanks a ton, Ms. Makhabat. I really appreciate the review.
Ha ha, what wit and so much fun in these lines. There are so many collaborations in the artistic field of dance and song which have been done with such awesome skill, however methinks you are having a poke at poetic twosomes. Once upon a time, many years ago I do confess to being lured into a poetic duet. What a mistake that was. He published after the first draft, before I got a chance to exercise my red pen. I have to tell you the only red on show was the embarrassed cheeks I sported. I love the flow of these lines and it is good to see an AABB rhyming scheme done so well. I also enjoy rhyme and meter as much as free verse. Needless to say, I have never been tempted again to perform another poetic foxtrot. I go solo these days. I don't want to share the ballroom floor :))
Some of your responses here are awesome.

They say it takes two to tango but I'd rather not go for it if I risk breaking a leg. I enjoyed your story very much and it just underlines the basic loss of control one feels in such endaevours. Writing is an intimate experience for most and I felt stripped sharing it with another. Thanks a lot for adding your thoughts to this piece, Chris. Perhaps fun and wit are a great tool in driving home a point. I am learning always :)
An excellent write of satire and whimsy, sir. Your flow, rhythm and rhyme is extremely well constructed and the theme is hilarious in itself. Collaborations of any kind, poetically or dance require a complete melding of the souls for perfection to be attained. Anything other than that, it all becomes a mess of flailing arms or words and misplaced rhythm. So, I would advise you to leave the collaborations to the Keystone Kops and attain written perfection yourself. Your pen is in fine form, sir. A pleasure to read.

I can write a thesis on why people SHOULD collaborate. Human alliance & cooperation is a subject anyone can wax eloquent on. Thats not my point at all here. I'm just out to have some fun haha. Who doesn't want a hot and sweet duet to sing from time to time? Now that's something that get's our juices flowing lol ;)

More like off topic, trumpet blowing of the delusional mind. Any fool can copy paste off wikipedia! The reality about modern collaboration is simple; it leads to a spoonfed generation, lacking independence and suffering anxiety and mental disorders in astronomical numbers. Then again....we WERE just talking about poetry, right? Lol. A fine summation here, Monsieur Tomato.

Lets be very specific about the type of collaboration here. if we generalize and label eveything in creation and under the sun as "Collaboration' then I might add that I am very thankful to my a*****e for clearing me of all the toxic waste generated overnight! Indeed, that's the best collaboration if we have to generalize!
So let's not extend the the definition of poetic collaboration and ramble on like idiots!
this is quite clever, don't choke on that G-string, they can be quite dangerous.
So can a collaboration in which you give your all to share with her, and she takes the money, all the money and runs off with the verse as well, publishes it under her name alone. And you are left broke and wordless.

Thanks for the read request for this one, pesty. This poem is quite funny so that's a plus. I like light humour myself though I haven't had the time to write any myself lately. As for Collaborations, I always shy away from them as I cannot make myself understood very well. I do admire people who can pull it through but I find such works rare. With this poem you have put me off collabs hahaha. Meow!

For some reason I thought this poem is up your alley and so i hurriedly pushed it to you for a look. As for collabs, hahaha, you are safe from me as I like them with ladies and not with kitties. Appreciated much Maa'm. Many thanks.
Lol! A wonderful piece of satire, Monsieur P! This one flows so smoothly and with a lovely rhythm; just like a collaborative waltz down the page. Even though it concerns collaborative writing, the poem had me thinking of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers in action, except with the heat turned up quite a few notches! There are some hilarious lines throughout and it all comes together wonderfully well in the end. It's an excellent satirical achievement. As for the collaborations.....you already know my thoughts on them. They will never be my cup of tea, even if my own opinion on them has me labelled "quiet the wane" by a certain illiterate dunce here! Some delusional fascists can't handle freedom of expression. A wonderful poem, here. Very well written. :))

I am always dying to make people laugh so I am thrilled it works here though you are always so kind to me. For such great artists to be named in the same breath as this poem is an honour for me.
As for freedom of opinion and the fforts of some control freaks to curtail it, we all know the fate of Mussolini :)
Many heartfelt thanks for always reviewing every poem of mine with such thoughtfulness. You are the best says this pest!
