A tribute to the master plagiarists I see in action daily
When your crooked quill goes broke and dry, on IV drugs you’re doped and high, it seems to be as we surmise, the dullards, love to plagiarise
When your words just cease and rest in peace, and all the net is yours to fleece, by golly, who recalls great bards long dead, so what the hell, just go ahead!
You pluck and pinch where greatness lies and steal the Ray's from Plath's sunrise, you filch great quotes to save the day and even dress like Hemingway
And lo behold let words be born, upon your page to leer in scorn, at fools who always come your way, to kiss your a*s in fervent sway
So like a dog upon a bone, you claim the words as all your own, just laugh at them from hidden shade, at all the fools that you have made
They are all neanderthalic buffoons and don't you know it!
How does one feel about plagiarizing others' works.... there has to be some guilt, some feeling of inadequacy.... or why would one do that? to make a fool of oneself? surely that person will be exposed in a very embarrassing way.... I like the structure of this poem... well done.

Self aggrandizement, arrogance, narcissism, self-centeredness, all are principle traits of the human race and it is rare that a mutation occurs that does not include them. This poem states it well.

That is the cause of all evil. Thanks a ton for looking in. :)
LOL part of me just feels sorry for them, and another part of me feels confused because in many ways I often feel that the words that I write aren't just my own... I know that sounds stupid (and indeed I am LOL) but in truth, I feel as if in many ways I am just a conduit from all of the voices I have read and all of the souls that I have known and my scrawls are just part of a collective. ownership is such a funny thing for me I guess nowadays if I were to be confronted with a plagiarist I would more than likely try to coax a poem out of them of their own more than I would be angry at them

Knowing how unique a soul you are, that just doesn't surprise me, Mr. Robert. Thanks a ton. 😎
I kept laughing from the beginning to the very end. Hey, we all do some filching of inspiration from the internet. As long as it is processed within to produce something uniquely you, I think it should be okay. This poem is a gem though.
You see a lot of this on Twitter.
Mostly people passing off song lyrics as though they were their own tweets.
And for some reason when you call them out it's "you" that's the jerk.

I'd rather be a jerk than allow that. Thanks a ton.
Really good, unique rhyming in this one. As it is said, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Plagiarism, however, isn't imitation. It's the sincerest form of theft.

I love this piece! And how honest it is too. I can’t imagine being proud of work you’ve stolen. Once, when I first started writing, I stumbled across a story I really enjoyed and wanted to make my ‘own version’. I looked back on it a year later and was appalled by how unoriginal and stolen it was! I promptly got rid of it and never did such a thing again. I loved your piece here, the wording and lesson, all of it! I agree with Jacob. Sooner or later, plagiarism catches up with you and YOU yourself are responsible for not stealing. Not to mention how much it hurts the original writer/artist/creator. A great, brilliantly written message you put out that needs to be touched on more.
I'm a poet and I know it....didn't you lift that one from Bob Dylan? Your poem is fun and it flows so well, but who's the lady in the picture? A master plagiarist? She should at least be wearing a mask.
