Winter

Winter

A Poem by kenya smith
"

Winter, will soon be approaching.

"
Leaves fall
Snow blankets the ground
Animals go into their burrows
Their food is stored
The temperature drops to the teens
People bundle up in layers
Lakes freeze
People put on their ice skates
Freezing rain falls on the ground
People fall as a result

Red and green decor
Fill the stores to the brim
Wreaths and trees are adorned with ribbons and bulbs
Trees, sitting in living rooms for people to see
Kids, run downstairs to open gifts, with faces filled with glee
Good food is served after presents
Turkey, ham, and wine
Laughter fills the air, along with singing and dancing
Kissing under the mistletoe, followed by warm hugs

People countdown to the New Year
New York citizens, wait for the ball to drop
The ball drops, couples share their New Years kiss

Winter is filled with surprises
Whether it is good or bad
Take time to enjoy it
