A Pocket Full Of Posies

A Pocket Full Of Posies

A Poem by kenya smith
"

People would put posies in their pockets to keep the smell of death, at bay.

"
So much death drenched the inhabitants
The smell of rotting bodies
The smell of diseased breath
Fills the sickened air
Doctors are carrying posies in their beaks to mask the smell
To prevent getting the disease
But, more and more people
are seizing the disease
The smell of death in the air is getting sharper
The supply of posies is getting shorter
Some of the doctors did not live very long
The remaining doctors
Are trying to take care of many people as the can, Including themselves
But, they can not save everyone

Plague masks are creepy artifacts of the Bubonic Plague and learning about the posies is quite creepy, too. I love how one can almost smell the stench of the plague and get a sense of how disgusting it was in that situation.
