Ring Around The Roses

Ring Around The Roses

A Poem by kenya smith
"

The Bubonic plague/ Black Death was one of the deadliest pandemics, in the world.

"
My skin in tainted
Bruised, painful, and diseased
A laceration, filled with pus
A laceration, enclosed by a crimson halo
The wounds are all over my body
They are making it hard for me to lay down
Whether I lay down on my side
Back, or on my Stomach
There is so much pain that I have to endure
I do not know how much of this suffering, I can take
The sores are starting to burst now
They are causing me great pain
The wounds are making me feel disgusted
Why won't the wounds, go away?

Authentic expression of a truly malignant experion of real time body decomposition. To truly imagine such a horrendous illness is ineffable. Good narration of the feelings that surely must have been felt. The absolutely despondency and unquestionable hopelessness.

Goodness, this is quite descriptive of the plague and you have a wonderful sense of portraying a horrible disease. It's quite tragic, too, and I do like the character's style of voice!
