The Chambers

The Chambers

A Poem by kenya smith

Take me to the Chambers
Where there is no light
Take me to a place
On this fateful night
Take me to the chamber
Where no one breathes
Take me there
so I can't see
There are buckets
Above our heads
Gasses were filling the room
I can't breath
I feel pain inside
One by one
People are falling to the ground
They're screaming
To let them out
God have mercy on our souls
Men and Women
Are gone away
Everyone is dead
I'm in the chamber
On the floor
Dead and gone away

As I read this, I pictured a man stuck in a dungeon as his family or village is being massacred. I enjoyed your raw emotion and accurate telling of good thoughts!

This poem reminds me of the horrors of WW2 and your poem seems to capture the terror that seemed to have happen in the gas chambers. It's a horrible time in history. (Line 7 needs a space in there, I think.)
