....and you never came back

....and you never came back

A Poem by kenya smith
"

waiting for someone that may never come back.

"
Tears ran down my face as I watched you leave.
I waved my last goodbye, to you
 You'll be off to war
while I'm waiting for the day
I hear your voice, call my name

I want you here, with me
But, I know your comrades, need you too
You said, that you'll be gone for six months
That seems too long, but I'll try to cope.

On the day, you come back, I will be joyful, to see you
It has been 5 months, now
I can't wait to see you, with your warm grin and happy eyes
Your open arms and welcoming hugs

Some time had passed and you're still not here.
It had been six months now, and I'm wishing for you to come home
I've been waiting at the airport, every day
 ...And you never came back.

This is sad. Being in the military we have the easy part. We have each other and can focus on the missiong. Those we leave back home have the hard part. The not knowing, the fear, and the loneliness. You express that so well.
