The BalloonA Poem by Aleks EdwinTo anyone being pulled along through life, with the hope of cutting the strings keeping you down. You fixed a string to keep me down; your every move I bowed Down the path I didn't want, further into the crowd. Although I fly above you all, It isn't high enough, I could be so much higher, If I was not your cuff.
I long for the sky. Cant you feel me pulling away?
I beg and tug and pull, but to you it's just the breeze, I wish I had a voice in me, so you could hear my pleas. Please untie this cord and let me fly into the distance. If I don't rise to greater heights, you'll never know my brilliance. I'm capable of more than you, who likes it on the ground. Much more lies in store for me, up in the blue and cloud.
I'm sick of bouncing after you, so bitter I could burst.
I'm what you thought you needed. What you thought you'd want. I hoped to bring you happiness, but it was all for naught. The twist around your wrist isn't strong enough for two. Now I will say goodbye and you will let me start anew.
So please cut the string and finally let me be. I'll show you everything about being free. © 2014 Aleks EdwinReviews
