Girl with the Glasses.A Poem by Aleks EdwinThis is actually a letter that I found. I thought it was too interesting not to share.
Dear Girl,
I don't know your name. So I've addressed this to the woman with the glasses. I hope you don't mind. You needn't read this, of course, but I had to write it. I won't see you again, that much I know. But you let me talk to you, which was everything to me; and you let me work the land -the land my parents spoke of, and dreamed of- and whatever happens to me, whatever they do to me, I'll never forget that. When I first saw you, I saw a face like no other. A face that seems to always hold a secret, that always looks as though it has just read a love letter. Well, in this case, you have. It is with equal parts truth and shame that I say this: I must be the only man in the world that does not want this war to end. For that will take me from here. And from you. Please believe these words, for desire is the truest part of us. -Adam.
