Prologue

            Humanity is on the edge of extinction. The few that are left are dying, minute by minute. And yet, we persist. We are a hardy species. Stubborn to the point that it’s annoying. We are the firmly rooted oak, the immovable force of the universe. What crumbles mountains doesn’t budge us.
            We survive not for ourselves, but for our kin. For the generations to come. Because life is a precious and rare thing in this fathomless existence. Any chance that someone can give us peace, redemption, hope, should be taken.
            So we live. We breathe. We survive. For the future.
