Blaidd DrwgA Poem by LexyWelsh for "Bad Wolf."
You said to me one day, "the lights in your eyes
are brighter than Venus during sunset." I didn't tell you then, but that cheesy line was one of the best I've ever heard. I don't think you knew, then, that the way to my heart was to have nerdy lines like that fed to me. Let's face it, I'm so nerdy I make Dr. Sheldon Cooper look cool. Ok, maybe not. But when I finally told you how any Doctor Who reference simply melts my heart I knew you were listening because a month later, when I was upset, You said, "You are the Rose to my Doctor," and I didn't know whether to kiss you or slap you for the cheesiness of the line. I don't remember what I did, I just couldn't believe you said that. I didn't dare believe, not for a moment, that we would last. Maybe that's the cynicism I keep to stop the romantic side of me from breaking my heart. But six months into what I would never last or ever begin had my cynicism breaking down faster than the well made confit you've never eaten. Each kiss, each time we held hands had my defenses lower slightly. I wonder if you ever noticed, or if you had grown accustomed to it. Nerdy, science fiction pick up lines went the way of that band you listened to when you were 14 years old. Goodbye came faster than hello ever did. You asked me recently if I still nursed a broken heart. I considered lying but I could never hold the truth from you. I said "yes" and you said "I'm sorry, so sorry," and those were the last words we ever said to each other.
